The bow tie is cut using CNC machinery, and the surface has a lightly brushed finish. A custom \u201cbrushstroke\u201d look can be achieved with fine-grit sandpaper, or the piece can be polished to obtain a mirror finish.<\/p>\n

The process of installing one of these bow ties into a crack in wood is relatively simple and requires minimal technical knowledge.<\/p>\n
The first step is to trace the shape of the bow tie over the cracked area. Then, using a chisel, carefully cut out a recess following the outline. To ensure a smooth finish \u2014 with no edge between the countertop and the bow tie \u2014 the recess must match the thickness of the bow tie. Once the recess is ready, apply a small amount of epoxy resin or adhesive to the bottom of the opening and around the edges. Then press the bow tie into place. NOTE: Do not hammer it in directly; it is better to use a wooden block to tap the bow tie into the recess.
