Description
Give your countertop an extraordinary look by adding a raw brass inlay.
Introducing brass bow ties for wooden countertops. These unique elements are not only beautiful visual accents, but also reinforce wooden structures, effectively preventing cracks from spreading.
The bow tie is cut using CNC machinery, and the surface has a lightly brushed finish. A custom “brushstroke” look can be achieved with fine-grit sandpaper, or the piece can be polished to obtain a mirror finish.
Basic sizes:
100 x 25 x 5 mm
70 x 20 x 5 mm
50 x 20 x 5 mm
Side #1 — pre-sanded.
Side #2 — raw, smooth (minor scratches and scuffs may be present).
The process of installing one of these bow ties into a crack in wood is relatively simple and requires minimal technical knowledge.
The first step is to trace the shape of the bow tie over the cracked area. Then, using a chisel, carefully cut out a recess following the outline. To ensure a smooth finish — with no edge between the countertop and the bow tie — the recess must match the thickness of the bow tie. Once the recess is ready, apply a small amount of epoxy resin or adhesive to the bottom of the opening and around the edges. Then press the bow tie into place. NOTE: Do not hammer it in directly; it is better to use a wooden block to tap the bow tie into the recess. The adhesive should squeeze out around the bow tie on all sides.
